These animated back-drops were created for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's production of Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Utilising a combination of hand-drawn illustrations, real-world footage and digital created animation, these subtly animated  backdrops aimed to depict Prospero's island as a bleak, monochrome world, inspired by graphic novels and traditional Asian ink artwork.

When on tour to the College of Dramatic Arts in Beijing in October 2015, the animations were shown on a large scale LED screen, and, in the Chandler Studio Theatre in Glasgow,  were later incorporated into a new scenic design by Kirstin Rodger.
